She was born Myrtis Katherine Braswell on Jan. 19, 1921.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Doyne Byrd; a son, Claude Byrd; and three brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Perry and husband, Jim; sister-in-law, Wanda Braswell; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
