Mary Helen Stafford was born November 8, 1919 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Garfie Stafford and Roberta Roberts. As a teenager she sang on the radio with her sisters and cousin. She loved music and played the piano and organ.
She taught school for several years in the early 40's. She played organ for the Richardson Baptist church for over 20 years and developed a kindergarten program with over 100 students. She loved to teach the piano and organ and share her love for music.
She married Herman Pennington in 1941 and had 3 children Sue, Myles (deceased), and John.
She has 12 grandchildren 39 great-grandchildren and 1great-great-grandchild.
