Julie Leah McCullough died peacefully in her sleep at Lake Village Nursing Facility on March 7, 2015 in Lewisville, TX at the age of 54. Julie is survived by her father,, Robert Luther McCullough and his wife, Opal of Flower Mound; Her brothers Robert Lane McCullough of Coppell and Brett Lee McCullough of Athens, GA and sister Amy Kae McCullough Villa of Plano. Julie is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Frankie McCullough. Julie was born on January 4, 1961 in Rolla, MO as the eldest child of Robert and Frankie McCullough. She completed her school training in Grand Prairie TX and was a member of First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie. During her high school years, Julie attending school in Diamond Bar CA., before returning to Grand Prairie to complete her education. After completing her education, Julie moved to Greenville TX to live in a MHMP Group Home. She later moved to Arlington TX which was closer to her family. Julie was a valuable team member in the Tarrant County MHR workshop for over 30 years. She was an active and regular participant of the Special Olympics, competing in many different events over the years. Julie was accomplished at word search puzzles and often spent hours completing them. She also loved music and movies and was passionate about sharing her favorite music with others. Enjoying travel, Julie was able to visit many of God’s beautiful creations with her family including Hawaii, California coastline, the Rocky Mountains and the Grand Canyon just to name a few. Julie was a sweet aunt to five nieces and four nephews. More than anything else, Julie was a bright shining light, loving others completely and unconditionally. Julie was generous with her time and possessions, often giving her things to others who were in need. She did so because she always valued people more than possessions. All are invited to a service celebrating Julie’s life on Wednesday, March 11, at 3 o’clock in the afternoon at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville TX., with her brother-in-law Fred M. Villa Jr. officiating. Friends and family are cordially invited for a time of visitation Tuesday, March 10 from 6-8 p.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Julie will be laid to rest Wednesday at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park following services.
