Johnnie Sue Steele, 86, a retired teacher, went to be with our Lord Friday, November 22, 2024. She was a resident of Harvest assisted living memory care for the last four years.
Visitation and Funeral is 9:00 am and 10:00 am Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Bluebonnet Hills, 5725 Colleyville Blvd Colleyville, Texas.
Johnnie was born in Fort Worth, Texas on August 27, 1938 to Elsie and Herman Lott and was the youngest of 6 children. She was preceded in death by her Husband James M. Steele and has two sons Bruce Steele and wife Donna of Trophy Club Texas, son Brian Steele and wife Lori of Roanoke, Texas. She is also survived by her sister Lehlia Jo Duckett; two grandchildren, Tara Doshier and husband Jon of Trophy Club and Chris Steele and wife Candice of Navarre Beach Florida. She has five great grandchildren, Bryson, Brayden and Taylor Steele; Caroline and Cooper Doshier; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, former students and a host of friends.
After graduating from TWU in Denton, Texas, Johnnie became a teacher and she absolutely loved it. She often said it was her true passion. Johnnie taught school In the Northwest Independent School District for over 25 years. Prior to becoming a teacher, she was a mom; always on duty with her two sons involved with school and sports. She also taught children’s Sunday school classes in her church.
Johnnie and Jim’s summers were spent in the mountains where they would RV and enjoy the cool weather with their great friends. They drove several thousand miles over a period of 20 years. She was most proud of the fact that she was able to touch so my lives through teaching and being involved with parents and students.
A visitation for Johnnie will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 COLLEYVILLE BLVD, COLLEYVILLE, TX 76034. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 5725 COLLEYVILLE BLVD, COLLEYVILLE, TX 76034. A committal service will occur Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Medlin Cemetery, 1130 Trophy Club Dr, Trophy Club, TX 76262.
