Jo Ann Thompson

October 21, 1936 – September 4, 2018
Obituary of Jo Ann Thompson
IN THE CARE OF

Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park

Thompson, Jo Ann Parrack, 81, celebrated her new life in heaven on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Jo Ann was born in Lubbock, Texas on October 21, 1936 to Albert Sherman Parrack and Bernice Walker Parrack. She married Terrence Edwin Thompson on August 22, 1959 and they enjoyed a wonderful marriage of 55 years until God called Terry home.

Jo Ann loved Jesus in a way that resulted in an uninterrupted life full of joy, gentleness, tenderness, warmth, kindness, purity, and extraordinary love. She was a servant that delighted in focusing on and meeting the needs of those she loved. She instilled her love for God’s Word in her three daughters and taught them to love their husbands just as she modeled her love for Terry. Jo Ann’s 12 grandchildren loved her because she made each one feel uniquely special as she consistently listened with her heart to the things they were interested in. Never in a hurry, she was always happy to play one more game, or give her sweet smile as she enjoyed the many stories her family shared. Most importantly, prayer marked Jo Ann Thompson’s life. It was the daily time she spent with God that enabled her to live without fear, overlook the faults of others, and experience fullness of joy.

Jo Ann’s three daughters and their husbands, Terry Ann and Jay Kelly of Grapevine, Tracy and Michael McCrea of Fredericksburg and Julie and David Smith of Austin, live to carry out her legacy. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, Katelin Kelly Houck and husband Colt, Courtney McCrea Ellis and husband, Southern; Clay Kelly and wife Ally; Caleb McCrea, Campbell McCrea, Colt Kelly and wife Sarah, Thompson Smith and wife, Hope; Clint Kelly, Callyanne McCrea, Chad Kelly, Bethany Smith and Grace McCrea, as well as three great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Charles Parrack, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Roger and Marilyn Barnard and sister in law, Shirley Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, Jo Ann would prefer a contribution to be made to Students Standing Strong https://www.MyS3.org
