Jerry Rondel Brierton, of Shady Shores TX, passed away on Tuesday October 8, 2024 where he was surrounded by his loving family as he entered the gates of heaven. He was born in Haskell, TX on December 28, 1952 to Jackie Berry and Charles Brierton.
He graduated from Lake Dallas High School in 1971 where he played on the football team, the basketball team, and was on the golf team. It was here that he made many lifelong friends that he continued to have relationships with until the end of his life. Once a month you could find some of them having breakfast together and laughing about old times.
After high school he then attended the University of North Texas for two years. It was then that he began his lifelong career in product management and sales in the electronics environment. As luck would have it, his job landed him in El Paso, TX. It was there that he happened to walk into a bar one night and meet the love of his life. He married Sylvia Torres on October 3, 1981 and the rest is history. They had 3 loving children, Jayme, Sean and Alyssa.
Jerry loved spending time with his family which eventually included his grandchildren, Carter, Cooper, Reid and Ellis. Sylvia and Jerry loved to travel, often taking road trips across the country. They loved time in the RV, cruises, concerts, watching Texas football and everything Longhorns, and watching their grandsons play football and baseball. Jerry had a lifelong love of cars and in 2022 he created the Motorheads of North Texas, a local classic car club with several of his friends. He loved the camaraderie with the guys and was happiest at car shows, showing off his beloved ’32 Ford Roadster.
In 2014, Jerry got the devastating news that he had advanced colon cancer. He fought fiercely for over 10 years, finally succumbing to complications from surgery.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Torres Brierton, Jayme and Blake Kendrick, Sean Brierton, Alyssa and Kelan Padgett, his brother Bill Smith Jr, and his beloved grandchildren Carter Jamison, Cooper Jerry, Reid Conner, Ellis Blane, and Parker Leigh.
