Hurley was born in Wayland, TX, near Ranger, on January 7th, 1940, to Lola Dale and James Edwin Perry. He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Hurley “married up” to Judy Kay Perry on March 29th, 1969.
Hurley worked in Dallas for the Federal Government for 40 years before retiring in 2003. Prior to that career he was a volunteer for the U.S. Peace Corps stationed in Nigeria, Africa, from 1962-1965. He loved classical music, reading, and was passionate about family, especially his six grandkids, all who live nearby.
He is survived by his wife Judy, daughters Dayna Russell & husband Keith, Roanne Ramnarine & husband Charles, son Stephen Perry & wife Melissa, grandchildren Christopher, Zackary, Emery, Arianna, Presley, Reid, & sister Sherry Perry-McMillan.
The family is having a private service for Hurley, and in lieu of flowers would love to know there was a donation made to Meals On Wheels, a service organization Hurley volunteered for in his retirement.
