He graduated from Matson Schools in 1940 where he played "6-Man" football and basketball. He served in the US Army during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.
Following his Army Service he graduated from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. After living in Abilene for 20 years, he moved to Euless in 1963, where he resided at the time of his death. He retired as Plant Manager for the Dial Corporation in Arlington after 24 years of service.
In Euless he was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Euless Senior Citizen Center, where his favorite activities were playing bridge and dominos.
In the 1960's and 1970's he was active in coaching in the Euless Little League Baseball Association, Mid-Cities Pee Wee football and little league basketball.
Survivors: Sons, Terry Massie of Euless, Eddie Massie of Keller, Brother H.B. Massie of Lancaster PA; Grandchildren, Cameron Massie of Keller, Callye Wood and husband JR Wood of Keller, and Caleb Massie of North Richland Hills; and 1 great grandson, William Wood.
Services will be held Friday, July 11th at 12:30pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at 11:30am.
