Jackie DeLois “Dee” Norman, 77, of Haltom City, TX passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at her residence. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt , great-great aunt and friend to all who knew and loved her.
She was born in Kinta, OK on June 13, 1941 to John “Jack” Anderson Norman and Ina Evelyn Wortham-Norman. Her parents moved the family to Grand Prairie, TX in 1942 where her father went to work at the North American Aircraft Plant. She was raised in Grand Prairie and went to school there. She attended Grand Prairie High School, married, had two daughters and a son, graduated from North Texas State University in Denton, TX earning a B.A. degree and taught grade school in Donna, TX. She served her country as a member of the United States Army while in Tennessee. She was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed reading, especially the history of all countries. She was a prolific writer. It was her passion and believed a gift from God. Her book of poems, prose and memoirs title Chinaberry Songs was published in 1998. The title came about because her father planted a Chinaberry tree in the yard the year she was born, dug it up and replanted it in Texas. She said it was a beautiful and graceful expression of her father’s love for her.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Ina Evelyn Wortham-Norman in 2012 and John “Jack” Anderson Norman in 2014.
Survivors are children Kimberly Collum, Timothy Ewer and Rebecca Wilbur, grandsons Alexander Threet and Jakob Ivanick, and granddaughter Christina Threet, sisters Barbara Hollis, Iris Langford and brother David Norman. Nieces Tracy Hollis and Karen Paige Langford- Wiersgalla and nephews Barry Hollis, Kevin Hollis, Eric Hollis, Greg Langford, Keith Langford and Bradley Langford. Great Nieces Katherine Wiersgalla-Estrada, Caroline Wiersgalla-Liegel, Maci Langford, Kristin Langford, Alisha Hollis-Haar and Heather Hollis-Hunter. Great nephews Daniel Wiersgalla, Nicholas Wiersgalla, Ryan Langford and Douglas Langford.Great-great niece Isabella Rose Estrada. Great-great nephews Calvin Haar, Colby Haar, Connor Liegel and Adrian Estrada. Jackie was a Christian and loved her family. She leaves a void in our family and will be greatly missed.
A Graveside Service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
