Glenda Diane Flowers, of Euless, Texas, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at home. Glenda will always be remembered as a loving daughter and sister, caring aunt and loyal friend to all that knew and loved her. Glenda was born December 23, 1946, at Harris Hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas, to Robert and Jean Flowers.
A former Miss Flame of Grapevine, Texas, Glenda attended Grapevine High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated with the class of 1965. Glenda spent her first semester of her freshman year of college attending Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. After numerous, exhaustive trips in her Volkswagen Beetle, back and forth from Abilene to Grapevine, Glenda transferred to the University of North Texas. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a minor in marketing in 1969.
Glenda’s business career was destined for the financial world of stocks and bonds. Working at Sanders; Earp, Kinney and Smith; the Wall Street firm, Weber, Hall, Sale, and Associates, Inc; Southwest Securities, Inc.; and Barre and Company, Inc., Glenda’s growth in Information Technology led her back to SWS Securities where she worked as an analyst assigned to Comprehensive Software Systems (CSS), Golden Colorado, as the project representative to develop online software for Internet trading and basic business functionality. After working through many companies’ mergers and acquisitions, Glenda retired in 2008 from Penson Financial.
Glenda developed a love of cooking from a young age. She always viewed the “chemistry” of a recipe, how the ingredients worked together to make a perfect dish. In Glenda’s adult life, travel became an important part of her free time. Whether it was cruising the seven seas, exploring seven countries in two weeks, or looking for sea shells on the beach, she loved it all. Perhaps Glenda’s greatest talent was her recall for old movies. She could remember the cast and crew of any movie, and share the most important facts about the movie, as any Turner Classic Movie special host. Glenda loved family, especially the newest and youngest members. She played all kinds of games and talked on the phone with them whenever she had the opportunity.
Glenda is survived by sisters, Bobbie Douglass, Peggy Webb, Lydia Warden and husband, Ron; nieces, Danielle Croteau and husband, Craig; Ashere’ Chait and husband, Jason; Allyson Munsell and husband, Clint; and Sarah Payne and husband, Mason; four grand nephews and four grand nieces. Glenda was preceded in death by her father, Robert Flowers and mother, Jean Flowers. The Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Mausoleum. Internment will follow.
Pallbearers are Ron Warden, Craig Croteau, Jason Chait, Clint Munsell, Mason Payne and Josh Croteau.
