Mr. Gerald Cecil Romero

It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald Cecil Romero announces his peaceful passing. He was surrounded by family at his home on June 20th. Gerald was born in Santa Fe, NM on August 1, 1943 to Victor G. and Annie Romero. He attended and graduated from St. Michaels in Santa Fe, where he played Varsity football, basketball and baseball.

He married the love of his life, Lourdes Bonal, on August 18, 1962 at Santa Fe’s St. Francis Cathedral. He was proud to be the 1st member of his family to attend college. He graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Gerald worked for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers for 31 years in Albuquerque, Ft. Worth and Dallas. His career also offered him the opportunity to spend 4 years in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he met many special, lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor G. and Annie Romero, as well as his brothers, Victor and Rudy Romero. He is survived by his loving wife, Lourdes, of 59 years, sister Christella Noedel, 5 children Reena Rodriguez (Tony), Joey Romero (Leidy), Renee Pryor (John), Melissa Harrison (Jared) and Michael Romero, 14 grandchildren Christina, Joey, Alex (Samie), Austin, T.J., Zach, Hannah (Zach), Samantha, Michael, Nicole, Mina, Sofia, Cristian and Matias, 3 great grandchildren (Noah, Eli and Jaspen), as well as countless cousins, nieces and nephews.

Gerald was a devoted husband, father, grampa and papa and was always there for his family. He was a die-hard sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, the Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers. He also enjoyed watching college sports; particularly teams from schools his children and grandchildren attended. He was an avid fisherman and was happiest fishing for trout in the Pecos River outside his sister’s cabin.

Visitation for Gerald will be held Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Colleyville, TX 76034. The Rosary Service will be Monday, June 27, 2022 at 12:00pm followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm at Good Shepard Catholic Community, 1000 Tinker Rd, Colleyville, TX 76034. Interment will be at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Blvd; Colleyville, TX 76034.
