He was born in Central Louisiana on July 14, 1933 to Christian and Catherine Hansen. He grew up in Baton Rouge with his brother Chris Hansen of Orange California. He graduated from Catholic High School in Baton Rouge Louisiana Class of 1953. After he graduated High School he joined the Coast Guard where he served during the Korean War. After serving in the military he worked as a Construction Superintendent for over 40 years. His career brought him to Texas where it could be said he had the biggest heart in Texas. He never met a stranger and there was nothing he would not do for those he loved.
He was married to Lorraine Plauche on May 21, 1955. They were married for 65 years. His hobby was woodwork. He could fix or build anything. He loved having his whole family get together for barbecues or crawfish boils. In retirement he and Lorraine loved traveling and camping in their motorhome. They often were gone for months at a time.
In his final years he lived at Harvest of Roanoke. He loved his apartment and all the people he met and became friends with. He was proud to have been their first resident after they opened up. His family would like to thank the staff for their loving and nurturing care.
He is survived by his four children Lorrie Butts married to David, Eddie Hansen, Elizabeth Zimmerer married to Tim and Brian Hansen married to Kris. He had 9 grandchildren Angela Hall married to Jeff, Renee Quinlan married to Matt, Blake Zimmerer married to Belinda, Kristin Beaty married to Rick, Lauren Walvoord married to Marc, Brianna Hansen and Angel Pinedo, Kyle Hansen, Ethan Hansen and Leigha Hansen. His 8 great grandchildren include Julia and Andrew Hall, Valerie Cantrell, Carter and Iris Zimmerer, Angie Paloimino, Kinsley Beaty, and Victoria Pinedo.
His graveside funeral is set for September 10 at 3:00 at Bluebonnet Hills in Colleyville, Texas
