Evan Dean Stackfleth was raised on a wheat and dairy farm near Anthony, Kansas. Following graduation from Anthony High School, he attended Kansas State University in Manhattan Kansas. As an ROTC graduate, he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Air National Guard and subsequently served as a reserve and regular officer attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel.
During an early assignment at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Tx, Dean met and married Jean Francis. While there he also earned a Master of Science from Trinity University. Following an assignment at Wright Patterson AFB with the Personnel and Training Research Branch, he was selected for attendance at the Civilian Institutions Doctoral program and attended Purdue University, earning a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
Dr. Stackfleth was a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College at the Air University in Montgomery, Alabama. Upon completion of that assignment, he was retained as an advisor and instructor at the Academic Instructor and Allied Officer School. While there he taught evening courses at Auburn University and Troy State University.
His final assignment was as the Chief of Human Factors at the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards AFB, CA.
Following his Air Force retirement, Dean became associated with the Institute of Behavioral Research at Texas Christian University. Later he worked at Seville Training Systems, United Services Corp., Flight Safety International, Hughes Training, and Colley Enterprises.
For many years, he served as a Special Interest Group leader at the local Mutual Fund Group of the American Association of Individual Investors. Dean was a member of Martin United Methodist Church and the Good News Class.
Dean is survived by his daughters, Janice and Susan, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Ellis and Elma Stackfleth, brother Lee Stackfleth, and his wife of 62 years, Jean.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, January 28, 2022, from 4:30 PM-6:30 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 10 AM at Martin United Methodist Church. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
