Faye Murphy of Bedford, Texas, passed away at her home on Friday, April 9, 2021. She was 90 years old. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, family member, friend, neighbor and colleague.
Faye was born July 17, 1930 in Rosebud, Texas, to Bud T. and Willie Lou (Bell) Chappell. She was one of eleven children. After high school, Faye worked at Camp Hood in Killeen, Texas, doing laundry and waitressing for soldiers in a USO type setting. Here she met her husband Thad, a preacher, and life-long best friend Lydia Langhannon. She and Thad were married in 1951 and had two children. Robert David was born in 1952 and Lydia Diane in 1956. Once her children were grown, Faye worked as a secretary and introduced Lydia to her boss; the two were married shortly thereafter. Later, she bought a wallpaper business she worked for and managed it successfully until she retired.
Faye found strength in her faith and was an active member of Bedford Baptist Temple for many years. She enjoyed traveling and was ready to go at a moment’s notice. But most of all, she was always willing to help anyone in need - family, friend or stranger. Caregiver for many over time, her home was always open to provide shelter, support and love.
Faye is survived by son Robert David Murphy and daughter-in-law Mary of Forestburg, Texas; grandson David Ray Farison, daughter-in-law Sarah and great grandchildren Ava, Sofia, Hailey and Caden of Hurst, Texas; grandson Mike A. Turner, daughter-in-law, Shani and great grandson Ethan of Dumas, Texas; grandson Thad E. Murphy of Forestburg, Texas; grandson Brian David Murphy of Euless, Texas; granddaughter Jennifer Murphy of Arlington, Texas; granddaughter Amanda Worley of Rhome, Texas; sister Ruth Lambert and brother-in-law Billy Joe of Travis, Texas plus numerous nieces and nephews.
