She was born in Oklahoma City on May 3, 1937 to Boone Nettles Smiley and Era Opal Smiley. Ann moved with her family to and from childhood residences in Oklahoma, Louisiana, and West Virginia during a successful search for "Black Gold". Her father, Boone Smiley was a part of the drillers and roughnecks on the Oklahoma oil field when the gusher "The Wild Mary Sudik" was struck. Ann, regularly attended Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and graduated from Capitol Hill High School where she was named "Ms. Chieftain" her senior year.
On August 18, 1956 Edna Ann Smiley married Bill Hilton with whom she shared 69 years of marriage. The Hiltons lived in Oklahoma City, Austin, Tulsa and ultimately spent their last 50 years in Hurst and Euless, Texas where daily prayers to heaven are a local call.
Ann, worked at the Oklahoma Bell Telephone company and as a Teachers Aide at Trinity High School in Euless, Texas. Ann survived breast cancer at age 35. Not only did she work all day, she came home to her bigger job of supporting her three boys while they played every sport imaginable; Ann and Bill rarely missed a game.
Ann was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Bedford where the family regularly attended services. She supported church sports and activities, was a Sunday school teacher, and assisted the church when the children went off to Falls Creek church camp each summer.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy Smiley, her children, Mark, Stan, and Scot (and wife Kim); grandchildren, Kristin, Laura, Sarah, and Blake, and her four great grandchildren.
Ann had a passion for serving the Lord, raising her family, and supporting her husband.
Ann's love for the Lord and family was second to none.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday April 12 at Bluebonnet Hills in Colleyville, Texas.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 2:00 PM followed by the graveside committal service for Ann and her husband Bill.
