Douglas Dale Martin was born February 9, 1945. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Max Wilbur Martin and Mildred Maurine Martin. In 1965 Doug met his soulmate, Sharon on a blind date. They were married August 25, 1968 and had 2 sons, Mike and Greg. Doug was a loving husband, devoted father and faithful son. Doug graduated from Eastern Hills in Fort Worth and received a BS degree from Texas Wesleyan College and DDS degree from University of Texas Dental Branch.
Doug first became active in his church as a teenager singing in the youth choir. Doug continued to sing in the chancel choir all through his adult life. After retirement he organized a group of adults to visit assisted living residents weekly and lead a singalong of traditional hymns.
Doug was devoted to giving his patients quality dental care. He was constantly attending dental seminars. In 1994 he was inducted into the American College of Dentist, an honorary organization in recognition of service and devotion to the advancement of the science and art of dentistry. Doug and his colleges made numerous dental mission trips to Mexico and Antigua.
Doug was passionate about golf and enjoyed many other outdoor activities including skiing, hiking and snorkeling. Doug was usually the first one in the water to snorkel and last one out. He seemed to always be the first to spot the amazing wildlife.
Doug was loved by many and loved many.
Doug passed away on October 8, 2022.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Kay Martin of Trophy Club, son Michael Lee Martin of Trophy Club, son Gregory Douglas Martin and wife Alyssa T. Martin of Southlake and grandson Nicholas R. Martin, brother Richard Lee Martin and wife Linda Gail Martin of Southlake, brother James Michael Martin of Brooklyn, New York.
Celebration of life service is Friday October 21 at 2:00 PM in Grace Chapel
