She was born on July 13, 1922 to Walter and Marie Stoelting in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She grew up on the oil fields of Oklahoma with sisters Mary and Grayce and brother, Edgar. After graduation she entered the United States Marine Corps in 1943 and became a Sergeant stationed in Quantico, Washington DC and Hawaii. She was very proud of her Military Service during World War II protecting her country.
She met the man of her dreams, John Henry, and married on March 20, 1948. Together they raised 3 children, Walter Joe, Ruth, and Mary. She loved traveling with her family who have many fond memories of road tripping, vacations and ice skating and sledding during her time in Colorado.
Her greatest pleasure in life was loving and doting on her grandchildren, Candace and Andrew, and later in life, her great grandchildren, Layne, James and Kori. Dorothy loved to socialize, and within the last few years much enjoyed her interactions with GCPAAA, Vips and Grapevine Police Department. She loved sharing a smile and greeting those who attended their numerous activities.
She was a beloved wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a daughter and sister. She will be dearly missed by those who shared this life’s journey and will fondly remember her for her loving heart and spirit and caring for everyone she met. She was truly one of God’s Saints on Earth, and must have had a grand welcome in heaven.
