David was born on June 11, 1954, to Jimmy and Colleen Hodges in Fort Worth. He went to L.D. Bell High School, where he wrote for the school paper. He was a great storyteller and wrote many poems and short stories. After high school, David attended Texas Tech University and majored in Telecommunications. While in school, he was a radio DJ where he shared his deep love of music. After graduating, David moved back to DFW and started his career at Lockheed Martin. He got his MBA at the University of Dallas, / which led to his pursuit of starting his own business. In 1998, David founded Hodges Business Resources. As president, he was a representative for aerospace manufacturing companies. He was an accomplished businessman, but his pride and joy were his family.
David met his wife, Judy, while working at Lockheed. They were married for 36 years and had two children and four grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family, grilling out by the pool, telling stories of his past, playing putt-putt and drawing pictures with his grandchildren. He admired many poets, authors, directors and musicians and shared countless quotes that resonated with him. He was a movie buff and loved sharing his knowledge on cinematography. He was very witty and always knew how to make someone laugh. He was a sports enthusiast and especially loved Texas Tech football.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Hannah (Walker) Hairston and Jennifer (José) Cavazos; and grandchildren, Liza Jane, Annabelle, and Polly Hairston; Amelia Cavazos. He is also survived by his father, Jimmy; and sisters, Janice Gentry, Angela Blankemeyer and Melanie Hodges; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Colleen, and grandfather, Jimmie.
Respecting David’s wishes, a cremation has taken place and there will be a private service held on March 10th at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home.
