Dan was born in Chicago, Illinois as the first-born son of Evelyn (“Evie”) and Thomas (“Tom”) Howe. When he was five years old, the family, with his sister Linda in tow, moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Raised Irish Catholic, in a loving but hard-knock household, he was an exceptional athlete who played multiple sports, attended Maryvale High School, and worked from a young age to help support the family.
He proudly served in the United States Navy. After his honorable military service, he had an extensive career in the aerospace industry working with Sperry Rand, Motorola, and Quadri Corp in Arizona and California. He then joined Pratt & Whitney in Florida where he was a quality assurance specialist working on jet propulsion projects such as the International Space Station. After retirement from Pratt & Whitney, he moved back to Arizona and served as a maintenance technician for the Tempe Union High School District.
In his heyday, he played fast-pitch softball at a highly competitive level with many of his closest friends. Once he left the playing field, he loved watching football (rooting on the Arizona Cardinals), baseball, old western television shows (Rawhide, Gunsmoke, and The Rifleman were some of his favorites). He was a Trekkie from an early age and most recently became a fan of Blue Bloods.
He found his true love, Jacqueline “Jackie” Molina in 1982. They were happily married until her passing in 2016. Dan was as tough, independent, and strong-willed as they come, but Jackie won his heart and devotion.
Dan was preceded in death by his wife, son Donavaughn Howe, his parents, and sister Linda. He is survived by his son Daniel J. Sinohui of Oxnard, California; grandchildren Daniel C. Sinohui and Star Sinohui; sister Kathleen Glezen and husband Randy of Bedford, Texas; his brother Douglas Howe and wife Rita of Colleyville, Texas; his brother-in-law Rick Molina of Tempe, Arizona; nieces and nephews – David Molina, Rick Molina, Alison Butler, Grayson Howe and wife Jule, Tanner Howe and wife Kelsey, Katie Bradac and husband Noel, Kasey Nemec, Kalee Nemec, Doug Lee, Rick Lee and wife Donna, his beloved Uncle Cliff Mansfield…and many more family and friends who will miss him dearly!
