I have fond memories of both of these fine neighbors. As I drive by their place, I look over and remember them fondly. I know they would love the house built next to them belonging to their daughter.

As I drive by my old neighborhood, I look over at the Fitzgeralds to see if Bobby or Mary Frances are out in their yard. Now I see a brand new house of their daughter's and know that Bobby and Mary Frances are happy.  They were so kind to Charlie and to me during the years. We enjoyed walking through the historical museum that Bobby was so proud of,  and listening to the stories Bobby collected.
They were a special couple.

We've been neighbors of the Fitzgeralds for the past 19 years. We have 2 sons, Sam and Jack, that grew up knowing Bobby and Frances as their "local" grandparents. Any school or Boy Scout project when Hank didn't have the tools or skill, Bobby was there to help guide the project along - most importantly, the pinewood derby cars! When the boys were 5 and 7, Santa brought them 2 little Honda 50 motorcycles. They would let the boys ride on their property, but to get to their back yard, they had to ride them along the street and around the corner. To make it easier and safer, Bobby and Frances personally built a gate on the back of our property to keep them off the busy street. On another Christmas, Sam and Jack were given a basketball goal and we needed help to dig the hole at the end of the driveway and mix and pour the cement . Bobby was there with his post hole digger, shovel, and wheelbarrow! Frances was full of sweetness and love.  She was a joy to visit and always offered us a snack and drink, usually a bottle of  Dr Pepper from their bottled drink dispensor on their back porch.  

Bobby and Frances collected lots of old farm equipment and tools along with player pianos and other interesting objects of a by-gone era. They took pride in giving tours. When we would have our family visit from out of town or other visitors, we would take them over for a private tour and the Fitzgeralds always took joy in sharing stories and information about their " farm museum." 

Watching the two of them grow old was hard, but we observed how they took care of each other. They were a powerful reminder and role model for all of us in the love and commitment they had for each other. We loved the Fitzgeralds and they gave us comfort knowing they were there and if needed, a helping hand at any time. We will miss them dearly and are thankful they were in our lives. I will miss your sweet smiles and the kindness you always treated me with over the years. 

Bobby, when I think of you, I hear your gentle voice, see your strong hands and see your giant, kind, humble heart. You once gave me the biggest compliment anyone, anywhere, has ever given me, and I was as touched then, as I am now in remembering it. Thank you.

Frances, your smile was always warm and inviting, and you always made me feel special and welcome. Thank you.

Thank you both for your wonderful daughter, who is, hands-down, one of THE BEST people I have ever known.  You were wonderful, loving parents, generous, thoughtful charitable, kind and neighborly people. 

This world is to gems short now.
You were loved much and will be missed much by all that had the privilege  to know you.

Bobby was a wealth of knowledge.  He collected, restored and presented hundreds of old school farm, mechanical and household items from the turn of the century along with player pianos and other unique items.

Susie's Parents were such unique individuals.  I always enjoyed spending time and chatting with them.  I would lose track of time when I was there and had to pull myself away.  They reminded me of the couple across the street from where I lived in west Texas growing up.  Bobby could fix, build or figure out anything he put his mind to and he could never sit still.  Francis was a sweetheart.  It was fun to watch them together, especially when she would needle Bobby about something.  Below is a link to a collection of photos taken in 2007 when Bobby shared a tour of his museum with my sons' cub scout den.  Bobby was always up for sharing knowledge of interesting things which caused children to light up with curiosity.  Anyone who was blessed to spend time with this sweet couple is no doubt eternally grateful.

I have many fond memories of this lovely couple who were our neighbors for 30 years. I enjoyed our talks and walks through Bobby's wonderful historic buildings. He was a wealth of knowledge.
I really am not surprised that this couple decided to follow each other so closely.   They will be missed.

Dear Mary Francis, 
You were also the light of Bobby's life. The stories he would tell me about your time here on earth together would just light up his face. You were always the first person to thank me for everything I did around the church. Last Christmas when I decorated the church, you and I spoke about how much you loved Christmas and how we had that in common. Neither of us wanted to take the Christmas decorations down. Thank you for your kinds words, you always told me how beautiful I kept the church and how you loved seeing all the decorations every time I changed them. Thank you for your kindness, and sweet words.  I will never get to meet such caring people again, you and Bobby were such a blessing to me. 

Dear Bobby, I will miss our Sunday morning talks before services. I enjoyed every story you told about your life. I will miss making you coffee on Sunday mornings and hearing you tell me and everyone else at church "She makes the best coffee". Every time you seen me, the first words you said to me were "oh, I am so glad to see you." I will miss those words, those moments. I'll miss hearing you sing songs on Sundays and apologizing that Mary Francis still hadn't found what page we are suppose to be on, just to make us laugh. I lost my grandfather before I was born, you filled a void greater than you ever knew. Thank you.
