Betsy graduated from Abilene High School and went on to study at Abilene Christian University. She then received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas.
She was married to John “Jay” Thompson on August 21, 1976.
Betsy worked as a teacher before spending many years at home caring for her three children. She later worked as an administrative clerk at Richland High School in North Richland Hills. She was a member of the Delta Theta social club while attending Abilene Christian University. She had a passion for loving her family, being around people, and helping those who were underprivileged. She epitomized big-heartedness!
Betsy is survived by her parents, David, and Peggy Dodge; husband, Jay Thompson; daughters, Sarah and Amanda (Ken); son, JT; grandchildren, Haddie, Dodge, and Millie, and brother; David Wayne Dodge.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 11, 2021, from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home located at 5725 Colleyville, Blvd Colleyville, Texas 76034.
The Funeral service will take place on Monday, July 12, 2021, at 12:00 pm at The Hills Church which is located at 6300 NE Loop 820, North Richland Hills, TX 76180.
A private interment service will follow.
