Adam William Zimmer, was born on January 13, 1984 and passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022, at the age of 38.
Born in Ogden, Utah, Adam grew up in Colleyville, Texas, and attended Heritage High School while his father Mike Zimmer was a defensive coach for the Dallas Cowboys. His grandfather Bill Zimmer coached football at Lockport Township High School for 35 years. By the age of 10, Zimmer knew that he wanted to follow in his father's and grandfather's footsteps and become a football coach.
Adam played for the Trinity University Tigers football team as a safety from 2002 to 2005, where he wore #28. He graduated with a degree in finance.
After Trinity University, Adam got his post-grad start with the New Orleans Saints in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In 2006, his first game coaching at the Superdome was Steve Gleason's punt block, and by February of 2010, the Saints defeated Peyton Manning and the Colts to win Super Bowl XLIV. Ask any of the Saints coaches, and they will tell you that Adam was an integral part of that success.
The Chiefs offered him a job where he helped produce two Pro-Bowl linebackers. Unexpectedly, the Zimmers lost Adam's mom, Vikki, at age 50 to natural causes. He missed her beyond words, and to add to that, Adam experienced another tragedy in KC because of his player who suffered from CTE. With seven years of NFL experience, Adam accepted a new position in 2013 from Bengals Owner, Mike Brown, alongside his dad. They won the division that year, but a new chapter would soon begin for them in Minnesota.
Mike Zimmer was named head coach of the Minnesota Vikings in 2014, and the entire Zimmer family poured its heart and soul into the Vikings for eight years. Their positive impact on the Minnesota community has been immeasurable and Adam especially loved coaching linebackers while he was there.
Adam was competitive but humble. He was an all around good guy and put others ahead of himself. He was kind, family loving and sports obsessed. He loved his mom and dad, his sisters, his nephews, his brother in law, and his dogs more than anything. He had a quiet confidence and had a devoted relationship with Jesus Christ.
He is survived by: his grandmother Ann, his father Mike, sisters Marki and Corri (brother in law Loy), and nephews Bodie and Nash.
