Ronald Wayne Weatherford, 72, of College Station, passed away, June 12, 2017 at the College Station Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, June 15th at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, June 16th at the Rock Prairie Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Willowhole Cemetery.
Ronald was born May 13, 1945 in Madisonville, Texas, the son of R.W. and Lavada (Rush) Weatherford. After graduating from high school, Ronald joined the Air Force. While stationed at Bergstrom AFB in Austin, Texas, he married Lynette Wallace. Also while at Bergstrom AFB, he was one of ten Aircraft Mechanics cleared to work on Air Force One when President Johnson was in Texas. Mr. Weatherford owned and operated Weatherford Door Company in Bryan. He was a member and Deacon at Rock Prairie Baptist Church and a member and Chaplain of the Gideons. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Margaret Ann Bukowski. Survivors include his wife, Lynette; two sons, Mitch Weatherford, and Raney Weatherford; three grandchildren, Sean Curtis Weatherford and his wife Jessica, Hallie Beth Weatherford, and Rhett Wayne Weatherford; one great grandchild, Channing Reese Conde; two brothers, Orlan Weatherford & his wife Mary, James Weatherford; and many other young men he mentored and thought of as his sons.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made in Ronald’s name to The Gideons, Still Creek Ranch or the American Heart Association.
