Robert lived all his life in Bryan. He graduated from Bryan High in 1980. He retired from Texas A&M University with 34 years of service. He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Bryan, and was a 3rd Degree Knight with Knights of Columbus. A Sunday School Teacher for couple of years, Bobby was also an usher for the Sunday church services. Bobby also led a few Zumba classes at a local gym.
Robert grew up loving world history, especially the Civil War era. He was always "in the know" of dates when things happened. His favorite western movie stars of all times were Audie Murphy and John Wayne. He knew the shows like the back of his hand. He was a brown belt on Taekwondo. Bobby loved the sport of body building, which won him a 3rd place in a local competition. He had a world of memories of his childhood, always telling stories when he, his brother, and cousins would get together. Bobby told the stories so well they became real; as if you were there. He loved to play Cowboy and Indians re-enactments. His favorite genre of books were Westerns, History and Religion.
Robert was preceded by his death of his parents, Weldon Watkins (2012) and Mildred Tydlacka Watkins (2016); his nephew, Joseph Watkins (1997); and his step-brother, David Watkins (2019).
Robert leaves a brother, Stuart Watkins and his wife Debbie Watkins; his nephew and godson, Abraham Watkins, all of Bryan, Texas; step-sister, Debra Watkins Cox of Kentucky; step-nephews, Jacob Watkins and wife Jessica of Los Angeles, California and Joshua Watkins from Galveston, Texas; along with their stepmom, Teri Watkins (a widow), also from Galveston, Texas; along with many other close relatives and friends.
