Richard Thomas Ellis, 76, passed away Monday May 19 at Magnified Health and Rehab in College Station. Visitation will be Thursday May 22 at 12:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 6:30 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Interment will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Houston National Cemetery.
Richard was born November 13, 1937 in Akron, Ohio the son of Robert Thomas and Ida (Weber) Ellis. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his military service, he worked with General Dynamics in the Apollo space program. He spent a number of years in finance. Besides raising his children, he had a passion for WWII history but most of all he loved the ministry and serving the church in some way. He pastored a church in south Louisiana during the late 70’s and continued to be active in various roles within the church for the rest of his life.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Gloria Kuchta.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Ellis of College Station; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard David Sr. and Cynthia Ellis of Houston, Robert Thomas Ellis of Seattle, WA., John Philip and Sharon Ellis of Caldwell; 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
