Joyce "Joy" Rose Herron

Joyce “Joy” Herron, 86, passed away December 17, 2015 in Bryan. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, December 22nd at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 23rd at First Baptist Church in Bryan. Burial will be at 3:00 PM, Wednesday in Restwood Cemetery in Lake Jackson.

Joy was born May 3, 1929 in Richmond, VA, the second daughter to Alvin and Ella (Whitehouse) Brockwell. She was married to Richard E. Herron on August 14, 1948. Joy was a loving wife and mother to her two children. After raising the children, she went to work at as a Librarian for Dow Chemical at the Lake Jackson Plant, and then for Dillards. Mrs. Herron was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson and after moving to Bryan she became a member of First Baptist Church of Bryan.

Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in October of 1972.

Survivors include her two children; Dr. Richard Herron & his wife Marsha, and Linda Nines & her husband Mickey; her sister Frances White; four grandchildren, Jeremy Herron & wife Callie, Timothy Herron, Patrick Herron & wife Janelle, Laurie Ferrell & husband Don; and five great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the First Baptist Church of Bryan Building Fund or Compassionate Care Hospice.
