Mr. Jackson Davis Woody was born in The Grove, Texas, on his family farm on October 21, 1936. He was the youngest of nine children and worked on their farm throughout his childhood, later deciding that farming was not for him. On January 21st 1954, in his Senior year at Belton High School, he married the love of his life Jean Carol Belanger. This was two days after her 18th birthday. Apparently, "secret weddings" were quite popular then. They were married for 64 years until her death in May 2018. Dad spent 3 years in the Texas National Guard. In 1958, he began working for Rohm and Haas Chemical Plant in Deer Park, Texas, retiring as Quality Assurance Laboratory Supervisor in 2002.
He and beautiful wife Jeannie (as he called her) moved from Temple, Texas when they were still teenagers, making their home in Pasadena, Texas. They had three daughters which he loved dearly. Dad loved his work and employment at Rohm and Haas and created life long friendships there while prioritizing his bride and his daughters. He found great enjoyment in working on the family cars, cooking meals, making Mom coffee, fixing anything that was broken (in innovative ways) and having charge over the family laundry.
After retirement, he added traveling, going to casinos and dabbling (with great natural talent) in so many interests including welding and woodworking. His years as lab supervisor, performing chemical research and keeping records, compelled him to enjoy digging into how things work while keeping all sorts of logs for rainfall, stock market ups and downs and even his weight fluctuations from day to day.
Dad began showing signs of dementia in 2018. With great care of his daughters he was able to stay safely and happily in his home until October 2023 when he moved into The Methodist Retirement Community at The Langford in College Station, Texas. There, with their knowledgeable care and support, he made new friends. He continued to live a full, active and happy life. He still shared his love of conversation and ability for wit. He demonstrated a desire to care, console and keep safe his newest family members at the River Bend Memory Care.
He is survived by three daughters: Susan Morrow (Steve), Dianna Schoenbein (Michael), and Eve Franklin (John); his brother in law: John Leslie Belanger (Doris) with loving acknowledgment to the late Faye Belanger; five grandchildren: Robert Griffey, Philip Schoenbein, Jackson (Jack) Franklin, Abigail Franklin and Julia Franklin, and one great-grandchild: Levi Griffey.
