Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Graveside Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 9. 2015 at College Station Cemetery, 2530 South Texas Avenue, in College Station with Chaplain Gary Roe of Hospice Brazos Valley officiating.
Floyd was born March 9, 1928 in Heath, Rockwall County, Texas to Lula Lee Owens and Charlie Henry Collins. He graduated from Edna High School in Edna, Texas and received his Associates Degree from Alvin Junior College in Alvin, Texas. He served in the United States Air Force for 24 years and retired as Chief Master Sergeant. He then worked 22 years in Quality Control of Chemical Services for Texas Instruments. Floyd loved to play golf, especially with his son Floyd Dale. He was a good husband and a great father. He loved his country.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Charles Collins; and two sisters, Margaret Ward and Tressie Ferguson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Joyce Pool Collins of College Station; his son and daughter-in-law, Floyd Dale and Grace Collins of Caldwell, Texas; one daughter, Barbara Dillon and husband Frank Morrison of Hearne, Texas; a brother, Ottie Steve Collins and wife Donna of Bells, Texas; three granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.
In memory of Floyd, memorials may be made to Brazos Valley Hospice or the Wounded Warriors Project.
