Carillon Cheney Rinard, 82, passed away on August 17, 2018 after an extensive illness. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in College Station, Texas on Tuesday, September 11, 2018.
Carillon was born on November 30, 1935 in Portland, Oregon to Glenwood Cheney and Katherine Latin. She lived most of her “growing up” years in rural central California and the Salinas valley later moving to Monterey, CA. As life progressed, she lived in Kirkland, WA, Bedford, TX, Lake Charles, LA before retiring in College Station, TX.
Throughout her life, Carillon was always deeply involved in her church. She was a Stephen’s Minister leader, a lay ministry program addressing the needs of seniors.
Carillon is survived by her husband, Steve; daughters, Karen Crow and Cindy Hulet of Pacific Grove, CA, son, Stephen Grindstaff of Midland, MI, daughter, Stephenie Wendt of Spring, TX and son, Andrew Rinard of Pasadena, MD; sisters, Judy Meigs of Placentia, CA, Glenda Muir of Pleasanton, CA and brothers, Bruce Cheney of Gig Harbor, WA, Wayne Rianda of San Diego, CA and Terry Rianda of Nipomo, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Texas A&M Foundation with a note “In memory of the Carillon Rinard endowment to benefit the Grimshaw Equine Therapeutic” program.
