Annie Royce Pittman, 90, of College Station entered into rest on January 9, 2012. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. A graveside service is scheduled for 1:30 P.M., Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Shiloh Cemetery near Mt. Enterprise in Rusk County, Texas.
Royce was born April 11, 1921 in Mt. Enterprise, Texas, the daughter of Roy and Annie (Cogburn) Hargis. She was a graduate of Jasper High School. Royce was employed in the service industry for many years and was a homemaker. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in College Station.
Royce was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Jack Roberts; sisters, Ottie Lee Childs, Ruby Mae Harris, Myrtie Spence, and Mary Auld; brothers, Joe Frank Hargis, William Lake Hargis, and R.W. “Buddy” Hargis; nieces and nephews, Fred Harris, Billy Roy Hargis, and LaNell Spence.
Survivors include her nieces; Gloria & Bob Johnson of College Station, Jeri & Bob Harness of Conroe, and Nancy Hargis of Austin; nephews, Bruce & Jeannie Harris of Briggs, TX, Ray & Linda Hargis of Trenton, TX, Donnie & Cathy Spence of Hurst, TX, Sonny & Jannie Auld of Longview, TX, and Rob Hargis of Dickinson, TX.
Although she had no children of her own, Aunt Royce had a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews and their families and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Christie Idlebird and Cherie Veazey, the loving staff of Traditions Hospice, and Pam Bailey and her staff who cared for her in her last days.
