Mrs. Odum was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Clara O’Bryant of Lafayette, Georgia, five siblings, her husband Paul B. Odum, one daughter Janet Odum Farmer Henning, and a great grandson Austin Farmer.
She lovingly leaves behind to cherish her memories two grandchildren, Amelia Michelle Farmer and Gary Paul Farmer, eight great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Gracie, Christian, Halli, Mckenzie, Tessa, Gary & KK , and one great, great grandson, Khyler as well as several nieces and nephews.
Marilyn led an exceptional and extraordinary life of service to her family and friends. She spent many years being a compassionate and loving caregiver to Mr. Joe Smith, also of Ellenwood. It has been often quoted by many who knew her that “they wanted to be like her when they grew up”, as she was never sick, down, nor out. From sun up until sundown, one would find her cooking, caring for others’ needs, helping out at her church, and pointing people to her blessed Lord and Savior by being a testimony of loving Him and serving her community.
While serving in her fellowship, The Ole Country Church, in McDonough, Georgia she met a man that put the twinkle of love back into her heart. Mr. Benny O’Kelley and she was locally known as “Recycled Teenagers” and spent two spirit filled years joyfully and playfully sharing their story of hope and love with all who would listen.
She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
