She graduated with honors from Henderson High School in Jackson.
Upon moving to Atlanta, she attended Morris Brown College. In 1945, she united in marriage to the late Eddie Lee Allen, Sr.
Upon retiring from Scripto Manufacturing, she centered her life around being a homemaker.
Her love and devotion to her children, 6 boys and 1 girl, was paramount throughout her life. With unparalleled dedication, she ensured that her family would continue the legacy in which she and her husband worked so tirelessly to obtain. Never foreseeing that she would one day have to journey alone, she admirably became the Matriarch of the Allen family.
This crown, she wore proud and with gratitude.
At an early age, she joined Lizzie Berry Baptist Church in Jackson, GA where she devoted her life to the Lord. Her unwavering faith, was further nurtured under the auspices of Dr. Grace C. Washington, Pastor of Love Life Christian Fellowship Church, Ellenwood, GA.
A stranger to no one, Laura was hailed throughout the community for having a heart of gold and for her caring nature. Her love and generosity was held to high acclaim by everyone that was blessed to have known her. She compassionately made a home for the homeless and destitute, and sheltered many stray cats and dogs. She enjoyed cooking and gatherings with her family and friends. Her favorite past time was watching T.V., with The Young and Restless being her number one show.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Lee Allen Sr. 5 sons; Eddie, Jr., Warren, Alphonso, Phillip, and Steve Allen.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Marie Jenkins; son, Winston Allen; daughter in laws, Mary Francis, Bernita, and Betty; a host of grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews, and friends.
Sleep on and take your rest.
