Born in Semenole County, Georgia, Levon Edward McCreary, Sr. and
William (Willeast) Lee Ewing McCreary birthed and raised her in Evergreen,
Alabama near the Florida coast. She was the oldest of her siblings: Levon
McCreary, Jr., Joann Freeze (David), William Anthony McCreary (Sharon), Calvin
Lewis McCreary and Gladys Deloris McCreary.
Her husband (deceased in 2020), Frankie Carl Lee and she raised three
talented children: Nikkilon Tonye McCreary, Khrusheed Jameel Ameer Lee and
Akil Ed’von Omari Lee, in Louisville, Kentucky. They later moved to Atlanta,
Georgia.
Katie was a book reviewer, interviewer and a self-published author. She
gained her Master’s Degree from Richmond Graduate University in 2017 at
the age of 64. Throughout her career she worked as a book store manager at
Walden Books, a library assistant in Fulton County and as a professional therapist
at GA Hope. She was the CEO of UR Designed 4 Success, LLC Consulting
and the founder of Therapeutic Expressive Writing Workshops. She also
founded Be Encouraged Ministries and was a Paracletos Practitioner/Life
Coach. In addition, she was an actress, psalmist, pianist and song writer. Her
greatest love was reading and studying books. She credited her mother who
taught her the value and art of words and poetry.
A visitation for Katie will be held Friday, January 12, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 5755 Mallory Road, College Park, GA 30349. A funeral will occur Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 5755 Mallory Road, College Park, GA 30349. An interment will be held in forest lawn memorial gardens will occur Saturday, January 13, 2024.
