Ann Rivers, born in Coweta County, Georgia, on July 12, 1926, to Inez and Claude Stamps, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2017, at Hospice Atlanta at the age of 90. She attended Tift College and moved to Atlanta in the 1940's, and was proud to call it her home for most of her life. Ann married Fred Rivers in 1963 and they were married more than 30 years before he passed away in 1996. She began a career in banking in downtown Atlanta, and retired from Wachovia in 1988. Ann was an active member of Sylvan Hills Baptist Church for many years, serving as President of their Women's Missionary Union. She was a member of Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in East Point, Georgia in recent years. A gentle soul, she was known to be an extremely caring and generous person. She was predeceased by brother William Stamps, and is survived by her sisters, Harriett (Harry) Bexley and Shirley (J.C.) Hunter, and brothers David (Cathy) Stamps, Dudley (Elaine) Stamps, and Bobby Stamps, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in College Park, Georgia. Visitation will precede the service at 1:00, with burial at Westview Cemetery the following day.
