Bill was born in Union County on May 11, 1926, to Charles R. and Pearl Patterson Paxton. He was a 1944 graduate of Alquina High School. Bill enlisted in the Army in 1945 and served during WWII. He married Trula Shaffer on November 14, 1953 in Centerville. Bill was employed at Fiehrer Motor Inc. for thirty years retiring in 1992 and also was a driver for McCullough Hyde Hospital. He was a member of College Corner Presbyterian Church and was in the Greater Hamilton Bowling Hall of Fame. Bowling, camping, farming, and Halloween time of the year were what Bill enjoyed.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Bill is survived by two sons: Charles Paxton and wife Donna of Liberty, and Marc Paxton and wife Jill of McDonough, GA; three daughters: Denise Paxton of Liberty, Karla Blossom and husband Jeff of Brownsville, and Marcia Reece and husband David of Everton; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews Bill was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Fred, Curly, Russell, and Charles; and three sisters: Naomi Petro, Mary Toole, and Freda Ripberger.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Showalter Blackwell Tilton Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, in College Corner with Rev. Mick Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Old Franklin Cemetery.
