Dorothy Helen Newman age 86 of Coldwater passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Laurels of Coldwater under the loving care of her family. She was born September 26, 1930 in Detroit, MI the daughter of Richard and Nora Foster. She is preceded in death by her parents, three husbands: Donald Johnson, Jack Newman, William Lease and son-in-law, Kenneth Humphrey.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Carrin (Randy Meredith) Humphrey; 4 grandchildren: Dale (Shannon Emmans) Fisher, Kandy (Tyler Burnham) Elkins, Chris Fisher, Misty (Craig) Elkins; 4 great-grandsons: Jeffrey, Jarron, Julien and Austin, sister, Mary Margaret (David) Lynd; other close family: Kari Roberts, Debbie Roberts, nephews: Derek and Jeff Lynd; great-nephews: Johnathon, Nick and Eric.
Dorothy loved and cherished her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was known to be a very feisty “Spitfire” or “Firecracker” who loved all people and enjoyed sitting on her porch to people watch. She also enjoyed dancing and before retirement, she loved working. Dorothy never drove but would ride her bicycle everywhere she needed or wanted to go. She also held a special love in her heart for her caregivers at Laurels who loved and cared for her as she was nearing the end of her life. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. The family is being served by Putnam Funeral Home, 11 E. Chicago, Coldwater.
