Wayne was born January 14, 1930, in Carthage, MO. He graduated from Macedonia High School and after graduation, joined the United States Navy. He served as an Engineman during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS LST 525 and USS ARL 14.
While enlisted in the Navy, Wayne met the love of this life, Delores Bishop. They married in December, 1953. In January of 1955 their first child, Elizabeth was born. They moved to Miami Beach, FL in June of 1955 and bought their first home in Hialeah in 1956. They had their second child, Michael in 1960. They remained in that house for 38 years.
Wayne worked as an automobile mechanic for Shoop Motors, Inc on Miami Beach. He went from employee, to co-owner and finally owner. He retired in 1985 and in 1994, moved to Cocoa, FL.
When he was younger, Wayne and Dee enjoyed square dancing, playing tennis and camping. He liked to read fiction, history and poetry. He loved carpentry and tinkering in the garage. Wayne and Dee liked to travel and they traveled all across country. Even as recent as six months ago, he traveled to see friends and family. Mike said he was the only one he knew that could tell you what road to take to get anywhere you wanted to go in the country, and never have to look at a roadmap.
He loved his family and truly enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Just two years ago he bought his first “Smartphone”. He joined Facebook, which meant he was able to keep in touch with many nieces and nephews to the extended generations.
