Valerie Jean Smith (Val) passed away peacefully July 5, 2021 at her home in Rockledge, Florida. She was born February 12, 1940 to Jeanette and Samuel Watkins in California. She spent much of her youth including teen years in Florida where she met, and later, at the tender age of 16, eloped and married her soulmate Roy Vernon Smith Jr. They were married 58 years. Roy preceded her in death on April 16, 2014. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Melvin Hess and Tom Watkins, and grandson Trevor Smith.
They moved to South Florida in September 1956. Valerie loved and cherished her family. She was a truly loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Valerie loved animals. She loved riding on back of Roy’s Harley and attending Classic Car Shows. Valerie enjoyed her Girls Night Out with friends. Even with impaired vision she was an avid Crafter. She put love and thought into making custom greeting cards by hand for family and friends.
Valerie is survived by her sisters Pamela Amendola (and family), Samai Ingram (Marshal) and family, sister-in-law Debbie Watkins (and family), son Mark (Nancy), 2 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, son Matthew (Fanny), 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, son Samuel, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Please join us celebrating Valerie’s life. Visitation will be held Friday, July 16, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, 5475 North US1, in North Cocoa, Florida
