Robert Ayars Selle (84), of Rockledge, Florida, has given all and crossed somewhere over the rainbow and joined God’s choir of angels, Friday, April 5, 2013, at Dr. Jey Pallai Center for Hospice Care at Wasdin Woods, Wuestoff Hospice, Rockledge Fl.
Mr. Selle was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, February 17, 1929. He moved to Florida in 1960 after he graduated from Purdue University. He came to Brevard County in 1968 from Miami-Dade County Florida where he began his career with Florida Power and Light.
Mr. Selle worked for Florida Power and Light as a Chemist testing water samples. He retired in 1983 with 25 years of honorable service.
He is a member of First United Methodist Church, Cocoa Florida. He was a member of the choir for many years and spent a 30 year span singing in many church choirs.
He is a charter member of the Illinois Railway Museum at Union, Illinois, Also, The Electric Railway Clubs of Florida, and The FEC Railway Society for Florida. In which he was quite active over 50 years accumulating a large collection of trains and memorabilia.
Robert was inducted into the Loyal Order of the Caboose by the Oregon Railroad Association of Portland, Oregon on September 17, 1963 and has been both an avid rail fan and photographer for more than 50 years. Many of his photos have been used in various rail magazines, books and articles.
He was a member of Automobile License Plate Collectors Association and was an avid collector of license plates and highway signs from all over the country and the world.
He was a hospital volunteer at Wuestoff Hospital in courier service and transport service. He also volunteered at the medical facility at Health First Healthplex on Merritt Island, Florida, as well as some years at Cape Canaveral Hospital on Merritt Island. Volunteering was his life after retirement, for he loved helping people.
Survivors: Wife, Christine Rex/Selle, two sisters, Joann Hoadley- Myers and Eleanor Stanley and various nieces and nephews in Indiana, California, St. Lewis and Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Grace Reirden, stillborn baby son, and his fourth wife Marie Alice Barker.

Calling hours are 6-8PM Thursday April 11, 2013 at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be held 2PM Friday April 12, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Cocoa. Interment will follow at Brevard Memorial Park.
