Robert Paul Alvino, age 83, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on September 29, 2017 in Port St. John, Florida. Born in Jackson Heights, New York, Robert is survived by his loving wife, Carole Alvino, of 62 years, his 5 children, Elizabeth Scheiner, Patricia Frederick, William Alvino, Pamela Rampulla, and Carolynn Angillello. He was a devoted father, grandfather to 15 and great grandfather to 8. He is also survived by his favorite (only) niece and 4 nephews.
Robert, 1st Sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division, Screaming Eagle, was a Computer Engineer for Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, New York for 41 years. He was a devoted, hardworking employee who loved his job.
An avid gardener, Robert loved his family, the outdoors, fishing, his faithful German Shepherd, Bear, and his not so sweet Siamese cat, Sushi. His unique and enduring sense of humor brought joy to all who encountered him, especially his grandchildren, who learned to laugh and appreciate the little things in life. One of his favorite activities included creating nicknames for everyone and everything around him!
There are no words to describe the unbelievable legacy he has left behind. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.
Visitation is planned for Monday, October 2, 2017 from 7:00pm-9:00pm at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home Cocoa, Florida. The mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 2:00pm Cocoa, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Health First Brevard County and A Moment of Magic Foundation.
