Raymond D Hill, Jr., 93, of Cocoa Beach, FL, went to be with Jesus on March 20, 2015. A native of St. Louis, MO, Ray attended Washington University where he received a Bachelor's and Master's in Electrical Engineering and was a member of Theta Xi. He worked for Douglas Aircraft and McDonnell Corporation during the 1940's and 1950's. In 1964, Ray moved with his family to Cocoa Beach and was the Manager of the Florida Division of McDonnell Corporation during Project Gemini and later became Vice President and General Manager of the McDonnell Douglas Ti-Co plant. After retiring from the aerospace industry, Ray was a representative for Janco Greenhouses.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cocoa Beach and Boy Scouts of America and also served in the United States Navy during World War II. He enjoyed golf, photography and restoring cars. Ray was a kind, caring and generous man who loved his family and especially enjoyed being a Grandfather (“Poppy”). He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Jeanette S. Hill and two sons: Thomas S. and Richard S. Hill. Ray is survived by his two daughter-in-laws: Sharon K. Hill of Merritt Island and Marcia C. Hill of Vero Beach; two grandchildren: Ashley R. Hill and Kristin R. Burri; and great-grandson, Mason T. Burri.
