Bobby was born on May 28, 1925 in Greensboro, North Carolina, the only child of the late Coleman and May Roberts.
Bobby grew up in Florida, was a cheerleader and graduated in 1943 from Miami High School.
She met her future husband Frederic Matthews while ice skating in Miami. They were married on June 6, 1943. They moved to California to start a family and eventually moved back to Merritt Island, Florida where she was a resident for 40 years. They were blissfully married for 65 years.
She enjoyed traveling around the world, going on cruises, camping in Yosemite, riding dune buggies in Oregon, walking The Great Wall of China, visiting Australia, climbing the Aztec pyramids in Mexico, gardening, playing bridge, and going to the beach. In latter years, she enjoyed crazy eights card games while listening to Glenn Miller, Patsy Cline and Elvis Presley. While living at Addington Place, you could find her sitting outside in the sunshine or enjoying a chocolate treat. This lady of style loved dressing up with red lipstick, pearls and lots of jewelry.
Most of all, she loved her valuable time as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend. Loving, heartfelt memories of family gatherings will always be cherished by her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Frederic and son Grant Matthews. Bobby is survived by two daughters Gloria (Jim) Draus and Pam (Rex) Vaughn, daughter-in-law Mary Ellen Matthews, six grandchildren Andy (Sarah), Kevin, Sarah (Tel), Maria, Matt, T.J. and two great grandsons, Spencer and Arlo.
The family would like to thank Addington Place of Titusville and Hospice of St. Francis for all their loving care they gave Bobby in the time spent with them.
It was Bobby’s wishes to have a private family graveside service which will be held on January 19, 2024 at Brevard Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Francis Foundation, 1250 Grumman Place , Titusville, FL 32780
