Joanne K. (Deming) Brinkman, 68, of Cocoa, FL passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017. Born in Rochester, Minnesota, Joanne moved to Florida with her husband in July 2016 to enjoy retirement and warmer weather.
Joanne served honorably in the Navy from April 1972-November 1973 stationed in San Diego. She obtained her Registered Nursing degree from St. Mary’s College of Nursing in Rochester, MN before pursuing her BSN at University of Minnesota and eventually her MBA at St. Thomas. She worked in the nursing field all her life before retiring from Woodstock Hospital in 2016. Joanne enjoyed cooking, playing cribbage, and traveling. She most enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Alaska, and Mexico. She was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents: Eugene and Mildred Deming as well as her brother, Robert Deming. She is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, Larry Brinkman; children: William and Millie Brinkman; siblings: Barbara Getz of Oronoco, MN, Patricia Clementson of Ocala, FL, Dorothy Sutter (Steve) of Auburn, CA, William Deming (Barbara) of Wabasha, MN and Michael Deming (Dorothy) of Kasson, MN; and five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joanne’s name to St. Agnes Church in Kellogg, MN.
Family will receive friends from 5-7PM on Friday September 29 at Abbott Funeral Home: 236 2nd Street W, Wabasha, MN 55981. A visitation will also be held Saturday, September 30 from 10-11AM followed by Mass at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kellogg, MN. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery.
