James C. Moye, 62, of Melbourne, FL, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. He was born on November 2, 1949 in Tampa, FL. His family moved to Melbourne, FL, where Jim became a lifelong resident.
Jim is survived by his wife, Mary, of over 23 years; daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Noel Scee of Port St. Lucie; step children, Joshua Masters, Melody Thayer, Jonathan Mackey, Sarah Spani and Joseph Blasik; sister, JoAnn and husband, Jerry Wiesenberg of Palm Bay; brother, Michael Moye and wife, Debbie of Merritt Island; brother, Kenneth Moye and wife, Donna of Palm Bay; step sister, Patricia and her husband, Brian Lord of Palm Bay; step brother, Steven Monroe of Melbourne; grandchildren, Devan, Ocean, Trysten and 7 nieces and nephews.
Jim entered in the United States Marine Corps in 1967 where he was awarded three Purple Heart Medals for valor, after being wounded in action during the Viet Nam war in 1968-1969.
Jim was a technician for Merritt Island Air & Heat for over 20 years, where he had just recently retired in December, 2011.
Jim was an active member with Freedom Christian Center in Viera for over 20 years, where he became part of the group entitled "Men of Honor". Jim enjoyed performing missionary work; making 12 trips to Haiti installing A/C units in schools and churches to help better their quality of life. Jim was also part of "Habitat for Humanities" installing Air Conditioning as well. Aside from his participation with Freedom Christian Center, he and his wife, Mary, were also members of "Bill Glass Champions for Life" prison ministry team for 10 years and Jim was a member of "The Flying Eagles" in Orlando for over 20 years.
A private wake for family and friends was held Monday, June 4, 2012, at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home in Cocoa. A burial service was held Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at 1:00 pm, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
A Public Memorial is planned to take place at Freedom Christian Center in Viera at 3:00 pm, June 7, 2012.
