Dwi was born on May 25, 1949, in Purwokerto, Central Java, Indonesia, where he spent his formative years. He worked for Holland America Line, Statendam, out of New York as a cabin steward and performed in the ship’s nightly crew karate show. It was during this time that he met his wife, Andrea, and together they started their family in Sellersville, Pennsylvania. They had three daughters, Dawn, Yvonne and Cathryn. They moved to Port St. John, Florida where they have resided since 1994.
Dwi enjoyed a long career as a pressman, culminating at Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida. He later worked the third shift in housekeeping at Parrish Medical Center, in Titusville, for ten years before retiring. Throughout his career, Dwi was known for his hard work, dedication and passion for helping others.
An avid volleyball player, Dwi played for the Garuda team in Pennsylvania and various teams in Brevard County, from Kiwanis Island to casual games at Blessed Sacrament Church. He was an active and cherished member of the Indonesian community in Florida. Dwi never met a stranger; within minutes he made you feel like family. He loved playing cards, teaching others the games, and often creating his own rules as he played. Dwi enjoyed cooking Indonesian food, especially for large groups. He was known for his satay and fried rice.
More than anything, Dwi was a devoted father and grandfather. He treasured every moment with his grandchildren, attending their sports events, band concerts, chorus performances, and dance recitals. He loved to brag about his family to anyone who would listen and delighted in introducing them to his many friends.
Dwi was preceded in death by his daughter, Yvonne Scheiner, in 2021, and his parents, Sadikin Martodiharjo and Mariyah Wiryodiharjo, as well as his brother, Juwinta.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Andrea (Alcott); his children, Dawn (Adam) Niehoff and Cathryn (Mark) Fourtney; his son-in-law, William Scheiner; and his grandchildren: Amber, Jasper, Lily, Carter, Isla, and Kaleb. He is also survived by his siblings, Hondoko, Sri, Uning, Bambang, Mami, Pujianto, Sari, and Martin. Dwi's memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
