Dana graduated in 1982 from Liberty Christian Academy in Lynchburg, Virginia. In 1965, she moved with her family to Rockledge, Florida, where she would go on to build a life full of love and joy. Dana had a deep passion for country and gospel music, often enjoying local live performances. She was also an avid crafter and had a special talent for creating beautiful Cricut artwork, which she lovingly shared with her friends and family. Dana’s bright and contagious smile could light up any room, and she brought happiness to everyone she encountered.
Dana was preceded in death by her father, James Albert Elwell. She is survived by her son, Corey McCormack (Jessica Wright); daughter, Brooke Markwalter (Justin Markwalter); and daughter, Lacey Smith (Tyler Smith). Dana leaves behind her beloved grandson, Declan Markwalter; her mother, Frankie Elwell; her sister, Angela Hunt (Gary Hunt); and her sister, Gay Gann (Ray Gann). She will also be missed by her cherished dog, Tinker Bell. Dana was affectionately known as "Dana the Joy" by her friends and "Momma D" by her family.
A visitation for Dana will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church, 1950 Michigan Ave, Cocoa, FL 32922. A funeral service will follow from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A committal service will take place from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Brevard Memorial Park, Spring St, Cocoa, FL 32927.
