Carolyn Jean Havet, 83, born 23 February 1938 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, died peacefully on Saturday, September 11, 2021 in Rockledge, Florida, after a long illness. A long-term resident of Indian Harbor Beach, Florida,
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Winston; her son Steven of Jennings, Florida; her son, Michael of Palm Bay, Florida; her son, James, and his wife, Kimberly, of Micco, Florida; her daughter, Teresa and her husband, Michael Henry of Alexandria, Virginia; her granddaughter, Eva Dobak, her husband, Dave, and great grandchild, Madison, of Chesapeake, Virginia; and, her sister, Elaine and her husband, Kenny, of Fortunia, California; her very best friend, Nancy Johnson, of Indian Harbor Beach, Florida. Carolyn was predeceased by her father, Warren, and mother, Vivian, Mentz; and, brother, Lloyd.
Carolyn met Winston in California, and relocated to Florida where they were married in Cocoa Beach on 24 March, 1962. Carolyn loved being a wife and eagerly sought motherhood soon after marrying adopting her two younger siblings, and then bearing two sons with Winston. She obtained her Master of Science degree in Human Relations from Oklahoma University. She used that education to help others, working as a counselor at the Hacienda Girls Ranch, and, later, a vocational consultant at Crawford & Company, both in Melbourne, Florida. She also served as a community Tough Love program coordinator. She was the family historian and prepared clever, detailed scrapbooks. She was a life-long avid reader and Star Trek fan. She enjoyed travel visiting many places including Europe and Canada by rail. She enjoyed crafts, movies, antiques, and, most especially, ballroom dancing with Win.
A Celebration of Life will be limited to family members and held at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, on Friday, 17 September 2021, at 1:30 p.m. with burial to follow at Brevard Memorial Park..
