William “Bill” Kilgore, 70, of Lake Jackson TX went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday September 18, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born on October 31st 1945 to Rather and Ray Kilgore in Cleveland Ohio. Bill married Deborah Henrichs in Santa Fe TX on October 5th, 1996 and together they celebrated 19 years, 11 months, 13 wonderful days.
Bill lived a long and storied life. He loved the fact that his birthday fell on Halloween – a night where he would bravely stay home and give out candy instead of taking the arduous task of walking the neighborhood. He served his country proudly by enlisting in the United States Army and serving in Vietnam. Upon his separation from the Army he enrolled in Baylor University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in English. Bill used this degree in two distinct manners – the first was by providing for his family as a News Anchor in Waco and the second was in correcting his children’s enunciation. After leaving Waco, Bill worked for Amoco (and later BP) for more than thirty years.
Bill was talented in many areas: he was a great photographer, was always on the cutting edge of technology and had recently taken up woodworking. Bill enjoyed collecting Amoco and Baylor memorabilia and mockingbird figurines. He loved to relax and watch NASCAR. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and his grandchildren which he adored.
Bill is preceded in death but is now reunited with his parents and his beloved basset hound Flash.
Bill is survived by his wife of nearly 20 years Deborah Kilgore; his son Justin Kilgore; his daughter, Tracy (Jay) McMickle; his son Wade (Lara) Nichols and his son Cort (Brandy) Pennington; grandchildren Destiny, Heather and Sydney Kilgore; Avery and Landyn McMickle; Lauren and Lindsey Nichols; Trenton, Caylee and Kash Pennington.
Bill is further survived by his brothers Tom Kilgore and Frank (Judy) Kilgore, as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Also surviving Bill is his favorite “child”, Rascal his beloved Papapoo dog.
Visitation with family will be on Friday September 23rd 2016 at 10 am followed by a Memorial Service and Celebration of Life at 11 am at Restwood Funeral Home, 1038 W. Plantation, Clute TX with Pastor Chris Seidlitz conducting. In honor of Bill’s service in the United States Army, Military Honors will be rendered.
