Robert Harlan, 54 of Clute passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2019 surrounded by family. He was born to Billy Ed and Alice Harlan on June 2, 1964 in Freeport, Texas. Robert was a lifetime resident of Clute and worked for Dow Chemical for 24 years and began with Olin in 2015. Robert loved working with cattle and spending time at his deer lease with his friends. In his younger years he enjoyed roping and traveling to rodeos with his father Billy Ed. He also adored spending time at the ball field with his daughter Natalie and her softball team, Lake Jackson Lightning. Robert and his oldest daughter Nicole would spend a lot of time together at one of his favorite places, his pasture. Robert truly relished spending time with his daughters Nicole and Natalie. In Robert’s free time he and his fiancé would love to spend time at Carolyn’s lake house in Trinity.
Robert’s memory will be cherished by his mother, Alice Sue Harlan of Clute; his fiancé, Carolyn Huisman of Clute; daughters Nicole Harlan of Lake Jackson, Natalie Ritchey and husband Tanner of Clute; and Brother Billy Ray Harlan and wife Sonja of Clute. He also leaves behind nieces Stephanie Croft and husband, Sean and their children, Kyle and Mattie; Jamie Eaves and Steven Wade and their daughter Maura; Erin Eaves; and his nephew Steven Harlan and wife, Dallas and their children Brady and Hudson; and the mother of his daughters Dawn O’Daniel. He is preceded in death by his father Billy Ed Harlan and sister Mary Eaves.
Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Dignity Funeral Chapel in Clute. A funeral is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2019 also at Dignity Funeral Chapel in Clute. Rodney Coates from Emmanuel Baptist Church will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Robert’s life.
Honorary pallbearers are: Billy Ray Harlan, Tanner Ritchey, Sean Croft, Steven Harlan, Steven Wade, Tommy Rhame, and John Mullins.
We want to thank the wonderful staff of Doctors and Nurses at Houston Methodist Hospital and Kindred Hospital that took great care of Robert over the past year.
