Sue was the first born daughter of 4 children to Earl and Maybelle Chatham where they resided in Nineveh, Texas. When she was 4 years old her father took a job at the Tin Smelter and moved his family to Texas City, Texas. Sue attended Heights Elementary and Texas City High School. She meet J.D. Boyd in Flo Texas and they married June 5, 1958. They made their home in Buffalo, Texas and had two daughters, Cindy Darlene Boyd and Sherry Jean Boyd. Sue was a homemaker and a mother and helped her husband take care of their ranch and cattle. Sadly the marriage ended in 1978. Sue then moved and made her home in Dickinson, Texas for the next 20 years. During this time she was blessed with 3 grandsons, Jody Hager, Casey Ward and Clint Nicholas. In 2001 she decided to move closer to her sister Lena May Forbes in Goodrich, Texas where she worked as a Home Health Provider. This job was very full filling to her, she loved caring for the many elderly people she took care of for years in Polk County and they loved her. During her time in Goodrich she was also blessed with 2 great grand children, Mycah Hager and Cooper Nicholas. She loved the Lord and was a member of the Hickory Grove Church there.
Sue left her home and went to Shiner to stay with her daughter and her husband in 2018 due to battles with medical issues As time passed her memory was failing. But despite all her pain and confusion with all her family behind her thru it, Sue came out a hero and fought a hard fight and stayed strong until the end.
One of her passions was cooking especially holidays, she would cook for days to celebrate the holidays with her family, her favorite being Christmas, there would be any kind of homemade pie you could imagine on her kitchen table. Sue loved a road trip if you needed a copilot all you had to do was ask she was ready and boy did she have some adventures. She was a bit of a daredevil scared of nothing from ferris wheels and the amusement park rides motorcycles or horses just to name a few. She was a feisty little woman at 5'2 and would take on any challenge of any kind. Sue was quite a seamstress, loved working in her yard and with her plants, always enjoyed her aquarium of fish and her pets. Her little 4 pound dog she affectionately called "Tooter" was her baby, her pride and joy, he misses her so much and will be attending her services so she can be with him one more time before they meet again in Heaven.
"Goodbyes are not forever, Goodbyes are not the end, they simply mean we will miss you until we meet again."
